Snake Safety Course
HHiSS, working with Paul Lloyd of Snakes Alive Zambia, Raise a Smile Zambia, Savethesnakes.org and African Reptiles and Venom, is arranging a one day Snake Identification, First Aid and Handling course in Lusaka in order to promote Snake Safety in Zambia.
We are still seeking sponsorship to contain the costs completely in order to make it free of charge, and we expect it to be oversubscribed. We will post updates on our Facebook page on this as we proceed and start to get an idea of numbers and settle on dates.
Applicants will therefore be selected in order to ensure as wide a regional spread as possible. Delegates from out of town will need to make their own arrangements for transport and accommodation in Lusaka. Priority will be given to candidates whose communities have contributed to their expenses. A very limited number of sets of tools will be available for purchase at K500 each and include a hook, tong and safety glasses. Where there are financial circumstances that preclude a delegate from being able to afford a set, the organisers will make every attempt to secure sponsorship for delegates who perform well on the course and demonstrate a strong willingness to promote snake safety in their area.
Applications are now open and delegates for this first course will be selected based on these applications and the ability to follow the associated instructions. Course dates will be finalised as soon as possible.
